Mailing Your Jewelry
Instructions for Mailing Your Jewelry
Follow these instructions in order to safely and securely package and ship your jewelry to us for evaluation.
1. Shipping Terms and Conditions
Initial Shipping: When shipping your jewelry, it's important to ensure that you insure your package for the full value of the items inside with the carrier of your choice. We are not responsible for lost or damaged merchandise prior to it arriving safely in our care. If you choose to sell, we will reimburse your shipping charges with receipt of proof of payment (up to a value of $25.)
Signature Required: To ensure safe delivery, all packaged shipped to us should be marked as Signature Required. We are not responsible for unreceived packages, and requiring signature is an extra step of protection for you and your jewelry.
Return Shipping: If you choose not to sell, return shipping will be at no charge to you and fully insured though our buyer's block insurance. For items valued over $750, signature will be required. If you need to make other arrangements (such as Hold at Post Office or signature required on lower value items, ) please notify us prior to shipment.
2.) Packaging Your Jewelry
1.) Secure Jewelry: Make sure your jewelry can not wiggle or shift in the package, that metal pieces can not rub together and that any glass or fragile pieces have additional protection. We recommend placing pieces in individual plastic baggies or wrapping individual pieces each in paper or plastic to prevent friction wear. Adding additional padding such as bubble wrap around particularly fragile items such as watch crystals is also recommended.
2.) Box Securily: We recommend placing all items in one bag or a small box and ensuring that there is no 'wiggle room' when shaken. Write a return address on that inner package so that in the unlikely event the outer box is damaged, your package handler will know where to return the inner package to. Place this package in to a second larger box (called double-boxing) for safety.
For more sensitive items, at least one inch of bubble wrap, foam or packing peanutes between the inside and outside package is recommended. Tape your package well.
3.) Ship Your Package
1.) Choose a Shipping Carrier: Choose whichever shipping carrier is most convenient and trusted for you. We recommend USPS, Fedex or UPS.
2.) Choose your Shipping Parameters: If making your label at home, make sure you accurately measure and weigh your package as incorrect information can result in a package being returned to you. If you choose to make a label at the carrier, they will take care of this for you. We recommend choosing Signature Required to ensure it is only delivered directly to our staff.
3.) Insure your Package: You should always ensure your package for the replacement value of your jewelry, to ensure that if items are damaged or missing in transit you can seek reimbursement from the shipping carrier. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged prior to arriving in our care. We recommend taking a photo of your items loose, as well as a photo of the inner box and the outer box so that in the event of a dispute, you will have proof of their safe and adequate packaging.
4.) Drop off your package and get a receipt: Always drop off your package in person (not in a drop box,) and request a receipt for your package.
Return Shipping
Our return shipping is always completely insured for the cash value of your jewelry. If you would like to purchase additional insurance (such as to fill the gap between cash value and appraised value,) please let us know prior to shipping.
The majority of our packages are shipped via USPS with signature required. Depending on the value of your item or your location, we may use Fedex or UPS at our discression. Items with a cash value over $750 are automatically shipped with signature required.
If you have a preference outside of these conditions (such as shipping with a specific carrier, requesting a hold at post office or requesting signature on a package valued under $750,) please let us know prior to shipping. Special requests may incur an additional charge.
